Operating Room Tech
Crittenden Community Hospital has an immediate opening for PRN Operating Room Tech.
The operating room technician is responsible for assisting in the nursing care and preparation of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric surgical patient, maintaining a sterile field and issuing instruments to the surgeon.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Assists in developing the patient's plan of care
2.Maintains proper equipment and supplies in the recovery room
3.Prepares and maintains the sterile field for the surgical procedure
4.Sets up tables, instruments and supplies required for specific procedure
5.Assists in preparation and draping of patients and operative area
6.Prepares and passes instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies
7.Decontaminates equipment, instruments and supplies per policy and procedure
8.Demonstrates competency in Central Sterile process
9.Cleans carts and rooms
10.Assists with endoscopic procedures
11.Cleans and stores endoscopes per policy and procedure
12.Monitors central sterile supplies throughout hospital for outdates and/or disruption of
13.Performs in a professional manner at all times
14.Maintains patient confidentiality
15.Complies with departmental policies and procedures.
16.Must be on call as schedule requires.
17.Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned.

1.Assists in orientation of new staff
2.Attends and participates in all mandatory nursing department meetings, unless prior
approval for absence is obtained.
3.Assists in collecting, interpreting and evaluating CQI activities
4.Presents a professional appearance and complies with the hospital dress code
5.Performs other related duties as assigned

1.Current certification for operating room technician in the state of Kentucky, if applicable
3.Demonstrates competency in surgery and Central Sterile
4.Demonstrates an understanding of and provides age appropriate nursing care to pediatric
adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
5.Good communication skills.
6.High school diploma preferred.
Education, Training or Experience:
1.Demonstrates competency in clinical skills and knowledge pertinent to the practice of
education of a clinic assistant, while administering nursing care for pediatric, adolescent,
adult and geriatric patients in the clinic.
2.Demonstrates an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological
maturation process as appropriate to the ages of the patients served
3.Must meet state licensure educational requirements, if applicable
4.Must meet all mandatory educational requirements
