Cardiac CTA/Stress Test Registered Nurse (RN)

We are currently seeking a Cardiac CTA/Stress Test Registered Nurse (RN).

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the medical advisement of a cardiologist, performs prescribed cardiovascular procedures and stress testing to patients. The Cardiac CTA/Stress test RN will utilize a high level of knowledge of cardiac or chemical stress testing and effectively communicate issues with the cardiologist(s). The RN will interpret data received prior to procedure and utilizes nursing judgement that is in line with Crittenden Community Hospital’s safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Provides services for Cardiac Stress Testing; to include maintaining proficiency and continued competency with policies. Performs the services according to the Cardiologist(s) protocol.
2.Provides cardiac care for all patients receiving cardiac CT’s and/or stress tests; to include pre- and post-care.
3.Prepares patient, equipment and materials used in diagnostic procedures.
4.Operates, calibrates and maintains diagnostic equipment and records the patient’s response.
5.Performs exercise, cardiac, nuclear, pharmaceutical, echo stress tests and EKG as prescribed.
6.Recognizes chest pain, arrhythmias, life- threatening arrhythmias associated with stress testing. Responds/obtains appropriate and immediate assistance as needed.
7.Maintains established departmental reports and records. Collects statistical data and outcomes for administrative and regulatory purposes.
8.Complies with department specific goals and objectives in keeping with Radiology and Cardiology organizational goals.
9.Maintains communication between Radiology, Cardiology, Nursing and all Ancillary departments for the purpose of problem solving and improving patient care processes. Utilizes appropriate avenues of problem solving and improving patient care processes. Utilizes active listening and behavioral observation skills in evaluation of patient/family for needed support or change to treatment plan.
10.Coordinates and reports outcomes of cardiac activities performed on behalf of the patient.
11.Ensures that cardiac standards and practices are developed and met.
11.Promotes professional staff development and implements evidence-based practices related to cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathology. Understands co-morbid conditions, diagnostic procedures, treatment regimens and normal/abnormal responses to exercise.
12.Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high-quality patient care.
13.Inspects area on a daily basis for compliance with policies, procedures, standards and regulations. Takes corrective action when violations occur.
14.Performs patient assessment and reports abnormal results to MD and utilizes assessment to determine normal vs abnormal response to exercise and if adjustment to exercise regimen is needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Performs other related duties as assigned.
2.Protects patient confidentiality, maintaining HIPAA compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE:

1.Associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred) Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Kentucky.
2.Current BLS and ACLS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1.Prolonged, extensive standing and walking; consistent with the listed requirements in the above job description.
2.Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.
3.Occasionally lifts, positions and transfers patients with greater than 180 pounds.
4.Must be able to lift or exert force up to 10 pounds consistently.
5.Manual dexterity and mobility.
6.Staff should request assistance if the weight requirement for the performance of a job/task requires >50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.
Regularly exposed to the risk of airborne and blood borne diseases.
Occasionally exposed to radiation hazards.
Exposed to a variety of electro-mechanical hazards.
Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals.
