Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
Crittenden Community Hospital has an immediate opening for Full time, Chief Nursing Officer. Competitive salary and benefits package available.
The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for nursing and ancillary clinical services at Crittenden County Hospital, Inc. d.b.a. Crittenden Health Systems and for the coordination of these services in keeping with the hospital mission and vision statement. The Chief Nursing Officer assists the CEO in formulating other objectives and plans as assigned. The Nursing service area includes: Med/Surg, CCU, ER, Social Services and Surgical Services, Home Health, Infection Control, Education, and JCAHO. Ancillary clinical services include: cardiopulmonary, dietary, home health, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation services, outpatient clinics, and emergency medical services (ambulance).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Participates in the development of hospital wide patient care programs (including staff scheduling), policies and procedures that describe how the nursing care and ancillary services for patient populations receiving patient care services are assessed, evaluated and met.
2.Participates in the development and implementation of the hospital's plan for the provision of patient care and ancillary services.
3.Participates with the Governing Board, Medical Staff, Executive/Quality Team, Department Leaders, Environment of Care committee, Ethics Committee, Corporate Compliance Committee and Clinical Team in the hospital decision-making structures and processes.
4.Formulates long-range plans and programs for patient services, integrating those with overall hospital mission and vision.
5.Develop short-range goals for patient services and establish budgetary guidelines by which goals can be achieved.
6.Establish performance standards with which to measure effectiveness and efficiency of patient care personnel and activities.
7. Implements an effective and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and appropriateness of care delivered to patients of all areas of the hospital and home health.
8. Develops objectives for, and monitors actual performance in the following areas: staffing; budget; staff development; managerial development; physician relations; interdepartmental relations.
9. Selects, directs and evaluates clinical department leaders, acute care nurse manager, home health director, nursing administration secretary and shift supervisors.
10. Assists in evaluating and formulating policies and procedures and continuing staff development.
11. Maintains approval from Kentucky Board of nursing, Respiratory care and EMS as administrator of continuing education.
12. Assists in identifying the educational needs of clinical personnel.
13.Actively participates in formulating educational policies and procedures and continuing staff development.
14.Assists in ongoing staff evaluations.
15.Provides associate counseling and/or corrective action as indicated.
16.Assists in hands-on patient care in times of crisis or as otherwise indicated.
17.Assists in preparing the acute care, Home health and ancillary services departmental budgets.
18.Advises the CEO in formulation of objectives and policies.
19.Coordinates the activities of all clinical departments with other departments of the hospital to assure that quality patient care is maintained.
20.Interprets and enforces policies in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, Federal and State Regulatory Agencies and the Joint Commission.
21.Establishes and maintains systems of clinical and administrative records and reports to satisfy Joint Commission standards and provide information base for effective administrative action.
22.Promotes an interdisciplinary approach to providing patient care.
23.Assist the Auxiliary Staff as needed.
24.Performs other related duties as assigned.
25.Promotes and participates in performance improvement activities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Serves as chairperson of a Nurse Management Team that represents nursing throughout CHS.
2.Serves as chairperson of Environment of Care committee, Quality/Patient Care committee, and clinical team.
3.Serves as member of Quality/Executive Team.
4.Promotes standardization of policies, procedures and practices throughout CHS.
5.Serves on various committees and councils as designated by CEO.
6.Acts as a role model to leadership throughout CHS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.BS in Nursing and/or Business Administration required
2.Masters degree in Nursing and/or business administration preferred
3.Kentucky RN licensure required
4.Previous experience in nursing administration preferred
5.At least 5 years administrative and management experience required
